Ah, back to digital. Traditional's nice and all... if you have the paitence... which I don't ^^; but anway, back to the piece. This is *ox-of-ice's character Ecume. I love all of her work. Go check out her gallery, you won't be disappointed.

This is one of the most beautiful pieces I have ever seen in the time I've been a Deviant Art member. I was browsing, saw the thumb print and was automatically drawn to it.

The trick's to color on a new layer above the line art, always keeping a crisp edge by erasing the extra stuff that's not supposed to be there:)

What about for animals with a ton of fur sticking out, like a wolf or a house cat? O.o

Clean up like normal, then go back with either the smudge tool or the airbrush and add the fur back on^^ I prefer the smudge tool, it's faster;)

Ah this is really beautiful, I love how you highlighted the muscles and that rock Ecume's standing on really has me drawn in. :0 I need to work out how you did that XDD; I just looks so 3D and realistic @@;

If you don't mind a bit of critic, i'd suggest maybe adding some separet strands of hair to the mane with a hard, thin brush, it just looks a little llike all the hairs are stuck together at the moment and i think it'd flow a bit better if you did that.

It's really nice anyway, I like the idea of the reflected stars in the water~! ;33
